The newlyweds travel to the wedding celebrations on a northern service

Northern Passengers were surprised to be joined by newlyweds Liam and Jennifer King in Manchester Oxford Road

The newlyweds had just married at the Manchester Registry Office and were traveling by train to their wedding celebrations in Stockport.

Fellow passengers would have been delighted to know that Liam and Jennifer’s romantic history has culminated in a 20-year union since they first exchanged glances as teenagers. Dating app ‘Plenty of Fish’ played its part in the couple’s happy ending with a first marriage for Liam and Jennifer.

The brand new Mr and Mrs King both have children with their former partners and in August 2018 welcomed their baby girl to their growing family. The couple had planned to wed on their fifth wedding anniversary in July last year, but the ceremony had to be postponed due to the pandemic.

Jennifer King said:

“It wasn’t until we chatted on the app for a few days that we realized we’d known each other since we were younger. The last six years have been something of a whirlwind – but I couldn’t be happier.

Liam King added:

“We walked out of the registry office and were heading to the family in Stockport. We were so happy that we just started walking through town and decided to jump on the train. A member of staff from Oxford Road station came to congratulate us and captured the moment with his camera. It is certainly the one from the wedding album!

Chris Jackson, Regional Manager at Northern, said:

“We welcome millions of passengers on our services every year, but it’s not that often that we bring bride and groom to their wedding party. On behalf of everyone at Northern, we wish them the best for the future.
