Harry and Meghan will attend the Oscars
Harry and Meghan have been asked to present an award at next weekend’s Oscars.
The couple were approached late last year and offered the choice of gongs.
It is understood they are lined up to reveal Best Picture – the night’s most coveted category.
If the Duke does attend, he’s sure to face an outcry from royal fans – after he pulled out of Prince Philip’s memorial service in London.
Organizers originally considered the pair to present the Best Actress gong – but that was ruled out as actress Kristen Stewart is nominated for her role in Spencer, a film about the life of Princess Diana.
A US source said: “Harry and Meghan were first approached two years ago for the ceremony but politely declined.
“Obviously they would make a huge coup this year and could use their looks to make an impassioned speech of their own, most likely in Ukraine.
“Show producers Will Packer and Shayla Cowan lined up some amazing A-list names to take the stage and Harry and Meghan would be the icing on the cake.
“It’s still up in the air, but in all likelihood – especially following the recent publicity – Harry won’t be attending.
“It would be seen as a final kick in the teeth for the Royal Family if he did – he is too nervous to fly into London without police protection, but happy to stand in front of a huge audience at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood . Not great optics.
