Jenny McCarthy has shared an update that her brain tumor surgery went well and she is “out of high addiction.”
The wedding photographer, who is married to Virgin Media star Martin King, previously battled a brain tumor in 2011 and successfully recovered after undergoing surgery to remove it.
“So…the surgery went well and I’m back and can text,” she said.
“Out of great reliance and absolutely delighted with it.”
She announced in January that some cancer cells had returned, but it wasn’t all bad news.
“Hello everyone. So I have some news…not the best but not the worst either,” she said.
“Some of you may already know that I had a brain tumor successfully removed in 2011 by an amazing person, Professor Ciarán Bolcer at Beaumont Hospital.
“Unfortunately, after a recent brain scan, there appears to be new activity. This means there is ‘swollen tissue’ which is likely the tumor growing back.
She added: “The good news is that it’s not malignant and Professor Bolger will need to perform further brain surgery to remove it.
“Ciarán assured me that after the operation I will have to take six weeks off, but after that I will be back doing what I love and that is documenting weddings, newborns and portraits and well sure, bringing out more amazing weddings and baby products.”
Martin King told this month’s RSVP Magazine that “the prognosis is good” and that his wife will be “back” after six weeks of recovery.
He added that he and his wife had received an outpouring of support online since sharing that Jenny’s tumor had returned.
“The support and the messages came from all angles,” he said.
“It really rekindles your faith in human goodness when you get messages like this. We’re in a good place.
“Jenny’s in a good place. We’re just waiting on the other side impatiently.”
Martin’s Six O’Clock Show co-host Karen Koster took to Instagram yesterday to send her love to him and Jenny.
“It’s been a tough week for Martin and his better half Jenny and yet he brought his good humor and grace to every show,” Karen said.
“Much love from your TV family to your real family.”
