A person who proposed to his girlfriend at his brother’s wedding ceremony on the beach has left people divided over his course of action.
While some understandably thought it was a terrible place to do it – others thought it was okay on this occasion – thanks to the low-key nature of the proposal
Unsurprisingly, their brother’s new bride was not thrilled with the unexpected news and accused the now-engaged couple of “ridiculing their marriage”.
The wedding guest, who doesn’t really consider himself a romantic type, says they and their significant other spent the time walking by the ocean during the newlyweds’ photo shoot.

Although they had been together for a long time, the subject of marriage had never really come up. However, after their son was born, they had jokingly told him that one day they would “propose him on a beach at sunset”.
Suddenly, there they were, strolling on a beach at sunset, and it was a good time to pop the question.
The proponent has since taken to Reddit for advice, as their brother and sister-in-law were not at all happy with their timing.
They wrote: “We were alone, no one was even paying attention to us because there were 100 people there. I just asked him ‘so, sunset beach…will you marry me ?’
“She said yes, we had a good laugh, took a selfie together and slowly walked back to the reception site.”
According to the Proponent, who is using the username, u/Ehalethey haven’t officially told anyone about their plans to get married yet, but the cat was quickly out of the bag after their girlfriend posted snaps on social media.
They continued: “Two days ago my girlfriend posted this selfie on her social media, tagged me and wrote a caption ‘finally marrying the love of my life and sunset beach proposal !’
“Now everyone who knows us knew it was a sarcastic caption and knew it was more of a joking message than anything. My brother and sister-in-law called us very upset a few hours after this message.
“My sister-in-law said we ridiculed their marriage with our message, while my brother said I was a ****** for proposing to someone else’s marriage.”
However, since the proposal was so subtle that it went completely unnoticed by the other wedding guests, many other Reddit users didn’t feel it was too much of a deal.
One person wrote, “Looks like it was a total push that happened during a private moment away from the rest of the wedding, and they were sane enough to wait until after the wedding to make the announcement.”
Another said: “I’m usually hard not to propose to other people’s weddings but this seems to be literally the only time it’s ever been right. Didn’t steal the show. On your side. Ridiculously ridiculing their wedding? does that even mean? Not the a****** and congratulations!”
