Helensburgh Couple Who Have Only Spent One Night Alone Since Getting Married Win Dream Honeymoon

A Helensburgh couple who have only spent one night together since their 2009 wedding will finally have their dream honeymoon.

Katy and Sam Cannadine’s ongoing struggle to spend time together began just three days after their wedding due to Sam’s Navy service when he got the call that he was deployed in just 24 hours.

The heartbreaking appeal meant the couple’s dream honeymoon in the Maldives had to be called off.

Every year since the couple tried to get away for the perfect trip to spend quality time together, but between moving to six different locations, including three homes in Holland, the birth of their two children and a surrogate pregnancy , a real honeymoon never materialized.

Katy spotted the opportunity with Winged Boots’ honeymoon renewal contest and entered for a chance to win the £15,000, 10-night luxury getaway to the Maldives by sharing the story of their struggle for a real honeymoon.

In her entry, Katy shared how their last family vacation to Florida was jokingly billed as their honeymoon, she said: “While we were in Florida, Sam joked that this trip could be our honeymoon. honey because we still hadn’t celebrated.

“While we can look back and say we had a great time, it wasn’t without its challenges. At the time our daughter had not yet been diagnosed with autism and she found the hustle and bustle of the trip very difficult and this was after being trapped in our hotel room for the first four days when ‘a hurricane was sweeping through the area – which was not ideal with two children or for a ‘honeymoon’!”

After finding out she had won, Katy said: “I was so shocked I jumped on the call thinking we were just going to discuss my application in more detail and I had no idea I was We haven’t spent a night alone together since we had our kids, let alone a vacation, so I was joking with the team that I’m glad to know what my husband is like again!

“When I got the chance to Facetime Sam to let him know he was so excited, it makes coming home this time even more special and reminded me of our wedding.”
