“He could literally do it any other time”

A woman wouldn’t let her best friend’s boyfriend propose to her marriage.

She shared her story on the Reddit “Am I the A ******” forum. Before the wedding, her best friend’s and bridesmaid’s boyfriend asked for permission to apply. She didn’t think it was a good idea. Then her friend stopped talking to her.

“My husband and I got married last month,” she said. “Two weeks before the wedding, my best friend’s / bridesmaid’s boyfriend asked me if he would be okay with proposing at my reception. I first told him to what I was delighted that he was proposing, but I was really not comfortable with him proposing during the wedding, at least in public. He seemed totally shocked that I was. said no. He said weddings are meant to celebrate love, I should want them to finally be engaged after 11 years together. I just didn’t understand why this had to happen during the 5.5 hour window of my ceremony / cocktail / reception I apologized and offered to help as I could with the proposal any other day, but he clearly wasn’t happy with me.

After the wedding, the bride was stunned by what happened next.

“I had not heard of [her] since the marriage, which is probably the longest we have ever gone without speaking, ”she explained. “I had tried several times to contact her and let her know at some point that I had something of her own that she had lost at the wedding. I texted the other day telling her that I was going to drop off the lost item at her place for her to have, and she finally answered. Apparently, during the after party at the hotel bar, [her] my boyfriend got drunk and told her she would have been engaged that night if i hadn’t ruined her plan. She said she wasn’t really mad at me, but she feels like her future engagement is ruined and I denied her a chance to be happy. I told him I was really sorry, and the conversation ended quite awkwardly.

Reddit users thought the boyfriend was wrong.

“He could literally do it any other time,” someone commented.

“It’s been 11 years, if he had REALLY wanted to propose he would have done so years ago,” one user said.

“The last time I checked there were 364 available days to propose, ”wrote another.
