Bill Gates was seen still wearing his wedding ring as he was seen in public for the first time on Saturday since news of his shock divorce from wife Melinda after 27 years.

The 65-year-old Microsoft founder was pictured leaving the Greenwich Hotel in Manhattan’s West Village earlier today.

Although Mr Gates and Melinda announced their separation earlier this month, citing “irreconcilable” differences, the tech guru has visibly been seen still donning his wedding ring.

Dressed in a gray polo shirt, navy pants, black shoes and a sweater tied around the waist, Mr Gates was seen wearing a face mask as he climbed into the back of a White SUV.

Her daughter Phoebe, 18, followed closely behind her boyfriend, Chaz Flynn.

The trio were pictured earlier with a handful of associates getting off a private jet after touching down at Newark Airport in New Jersey on Saturday.

Sporting an unusual thatch, Mr Gates was pictured smiling alongside his daughter with her high-profile divorce proceeding seemingly far from her mind.

Prior to his arrival in the Big Apple, Mr. Gates was believed to be locked up in an exclusive California golf resort where he owns a $ 12.5 million (AU $ 16 million) mansion.

He has maintained an incredibly low profile since he and Melinda announced their separation on May 3.

In the weeks that followed, the billionaire was rocked by allegations of inappropriate behavior at Microsoft, including an “inappropriate” extramarital affair that lasted several years and hit many staff.

Serious questions have also been raised about the nature of his alleged friendship with the late disgraceful financier and convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Daily Beast reports and The New York Times claimed that Mr Gates and Epstein met on several occasions between 2011 and 2014.

A source claimed Mr Gates even confided in Epstein about his “toxic” marriage to Melinda.

However, a representative for Mr Gates called the reports “inaccurate”.
