They got engaged in Mexico in June 2018 and Maria Morgan and David Weldon were hoping to pack their bags for their big day, which was due to take place two years later.
The couple, whose paths crossed for the first time at a party in September 2010, set a date for June 2020, when they planned to travel back to get married. âOur original plan was to get married in Dubrovnik, Croatia,â said Maria, from Naul, Dublin.
But, as with many weddings during a pandemic, the couple had to rethink their date and location. âWe postponed until June 2021, but with the situation still very uncertain, we decided to have a small wedding in Ireland,â said Maria.
The bride and groom, from Ashbourne, County Meath, decided to travel to Munster for their nuptials, especially County Limerick. âThere was one place we both really liked and that was Adare Manor,â Maria said.
They exchanged vows in Holy Trinity Abbey Church, Adare, Co Limerick through Monsignor Dan Neenan.
âWe had an amazing day from start to finish. Although we were limited by the number of guests, we were able to have most of our loved ones with us on our special day! said the bride.
âThe morning was very relaxed in the room as we got ready and then we headed to the church, which is a very short drive away. We have been blessed with the weather – it was a beautiful sunny day. The ceremony was perfect, Monsignor Dan caused a sensation that day.
Toast to their happiness, the two parents, Patrice and Seamus Morgan and Fiona and Jimmy Weldon, as well as the grandparents of David, Cora and Harry Hughes.
âThe welcome our guests received from the staff at Adare Manor was of a higher standard,â said the bride.
âEveryone felt so special that day and everything from the food and the room service, everything was more than we expected,â said the bride.
Alongside Maria as bridesmaids were Niamh Cullen, Ashling Doherty and Amy Weldon, while David had the support of the groomsmen team consisting of Eoin Reilly, Donal McCarthy and James Morgan.
Maria looked perfect in a San Patrick “Abby” dress she bought from the Fairview bridal boutique.
The bride’s hairstyle was performed by Jane Walsh of Red Velvet, while Fiona McNamara and Louisa Dempsey of FMN Bridal were the makeup artists.
The groom and his group looked dapper in suits purchased from Protocol for Men.
Hu O’Reilly, photographer, and Richard Speedie of bigday.ie filmed on the wedding day.
Jenny Harris and Bronagh Wilkinson created the flower arrangements.
The newlyweds, who live in Ratoath, County Meath, chose the Maldives and Dubai as their honeymoon destinations.
